Probate can be a pretty long process. I would say the shortest probate I’ve ever done would have been about seven months from start to finish. That would be considered lightning fast. It’s very common for a probate to take about a year or so from beginning to completion. Sometimes difficult issues come up like tax issues or litigation, and sometimes probate can last many years.
